We can never get enough of natural skincare tips, what with the ridiculous price of skin care products! I personally believe that everything I need is on my kitchen shelf. The interesting thing is, skincare need not be all that complicated. Start with a healthy lifestyle, bathing regularly, a healthy diet and daily exercise, as I have elaborated below. Of course, drink enough water to keep skin hydrated.

But here are some really easy natural skincare tips you can use right away without spending an arm and a leg. Your skin – and your purse – will thank you!

Natural Skincare tips for immediate use

7 natural skincare tips you can use

Healthy foods

Obviously! If you don’t eat healthy, your body cannot function efficiently. An antioxidant rich diet including fruit and vegetables is a great place to start. Cut down on sugar as sugar increases the risk of acne and makes skin age more quickly. It messes with the layer of collagen under your skin and gives you cellulite. Ugh.

Some excellent foods that promote skin health are:

  • Carrots, apricots, and other yellow and orange fruits and vegetables.
  • Spinach and other green leafy vegetables.
  • Tomatoes.
  • Berries.
  • Beans, peas and lentils.
  • Salmon, mackerel and other fatty fish.
  • Nuts

Regular exercise

Overall good health depends on regular physical activity so your metabolism is at the right speed. Including exercise on a daily basis increases blood flow, giving you a refreshed appearance. It helps cells regenerate faster. Don’t forget to get your sunblock on when you go out in the sun, and of course, bathe regularly to cleanse your skin and help it breathe. Even if you can’t commit to joining a gym, try and work in 30 minutes of brisk walking daily. And stay active.

Drink up!

Hydrated skin has less to do with how much water you drink than with how well your skin holds on to moisture: drink green tea which is rich in antioxidant and drink lots of water. Fill a couple of bottles and ensure that you finish them. Perhaps even set an alarm to remind you to drink water. Natural skincare does not get easier than this!

The right oils

To keep your skin looking young and supple, take omega 3 (fish or flaxseed oil supplements or
eat omega 3 rich foods. Examples are salmon, flax, flaxseed oil, linseed oil. If you have dry skin, keep it moisturized with body oils.

Supplements

Experts recommend the following to fight aging: Vitamins C and E, lycopene which you can get from tomatoes, Lutein from spinach, kale and other dark greens, foods rich in beta carotene and Vitamins A and B. Do consult your doctor before you buy a supplement, though, to make sure it agrees with your current health status.

From your kitchen

Nothing like homemade remedies to make you feel safe and healthy when it comes to natural skincare! Did you know cucumbers have an
anti-inflammatory capability, reduce puffiness, cool you down and also reduce blood flow to the area where you apply them externally? Think cucumber slices on your eyes! And feel free to much from a bowl of cucumber slices, or enjoy water infused with cucumber slices for a deliciously refreshing drink.

To reduce the redness in your eyes, place cool damp black tea bags on them. The caffeine in the teabags shrinks blood vessels and reduces those dark circles around your eyes.

Get your Zzzz

Sleep has a solid effect on everything you do, including your weight management. Getting enough sleep is vital to keep your body functioning efficiently. When you sleep, your body regenerates cells; if you don’t get enough sleep. the body doesn’t get enough time to create new skin and regenerate those cells.

Got any tips to add?

Stay healthy!

Hi Vidya,

I absolutely agree with all of your natural skin care tips!

I take supplements every day including Vitamin C, fish oil, evening primrose oil, and a probiotic that contains all of the nutrients we could want to keep our skin and body healthy. I also take a natural acne supplement that has vitamins, minerals, and an amino acid in it that really helps with hormonal acne and reducing redness.

I have recently started eating cucumbers and have noticed that if I have inflammation on my face due to a rosacea breakout that they help reduce the inflammation and redness. It is a great natural food for us to eat because it is mostly water and will keep us hydrated and they taste great too!

Thanks again for sharing these tips, they really work if you try to implement each of them into your life.

Hi Vidya,

You already mentioned all important tips to provide best skincare. And I think there is nothing left for me to add on. But certainly suggest that stop using costly cosmetic products which claims to offer stunning skin. Instead you should consult with dermatologist.
