Research may show that artificial sweeteners don’t cause cancer and that aspartame is safe – but then we also know that too much of a good thing is never a good idea.

So, what’s the verdict on sweeteners?

Action time!  
Go easy on artificial sweeteners to replace sugar if you are a diabetic, trying to lose weight, or just because you like them. Sweeteners may be low in kilojoules, but try not to exceed eight pills a day!

A study titled Artificial sweeteners as a sugar substitute: Are they really safe? states that their use has been controversial and riddled with many concerns regarding their safety. So talk to your doctor before you switch to nonnutritive sweeteners.
