Do you get regular health checks?
I believe health is our only true wealth and try my best to take good care of mine. My husband and I are both conscious about being fit and healthy. As a diabetic, I get regular health checks but my husband was due for a full health check.
Getting a periodical health check is critical especially from the age of 40. This helps us assure ourselves that we’re in good health when we follow a healthy lifestyle. It also helps identify any health risks early, so that we can address it properly and enjoy a good quality life.
For quite some time now, I’ve been receiving promotional emails from Thyrocare about their preventive healthcare packages and decided to go in for their affordable Aarogyam package. This has 74 tests and is equal to a comprehensive master health check.
Let me first tell you why I decided on Thyrocare.
Thyrocare Technologies Ltd. based in Navi Mumbai is the world’s largest Thyroid and Preventive health care laboratory with a strong presence in more than 2000 cities/towns in India and internationally . Their preventive healthcare packages are popular under the brand name Aarogyam profiles and they offer various Aarogyam profiles. More details are here: http://www.thyrocare.com/wellness.
What does the Aarogyam package include?
There are 74 tests in all as follows:
Liver Profile (11)| Cholesterol Profile (8) | Homocysteine | Kidney Profile (5) | Thyroid Profile (3) | Iron Deficiency (3) | Diabetic Screen (2) | Complete Hemogram (28)| Vitamin Profile (2) | Toxic Elements (9)| Pancreatic Profile (2)
Each of these tests is vital to assess overall health and I decided to take the Aarogyam package.
Here is how the flow of service took place:
While they allow booking via their website, phone call, WhatsApp and email, they were kind enough to interact via the phone. Once I gave them the necessary details comprising of name, age, gender, address, email and mobile number along with preferred date and time, they called me back to confirm for sample collection followed by an email.
Their service provider coordinated with me and I also received a confirmation via sms on my mobile phone.
Of course, my husband was amused about the home service since we usually assume it is only for those who can’t go to the lab, but I have to admit it was very convenient, especially since going to the lab in this particular instance would have meant putting off the health check indefinitely.
On the appointed day – we chose a Sunday at 7 am since many of the tests required fasting for 10-12 hours, the technician arrived and drew the blood samples. He was quite efficient. After he finished, he suggested we note down the bar code of the vials in which he had our samples and I took a photo.
He informed us that we would be receiving a soft copy of the results via email in a day or two.
We received the email the next morning around 10 am with the report attached as a pdf. The report was very detailed and showed results along with reference range and description of terminology. For example, for the blood glucose, it mentioned three slabs and what each one meant.
A few days later, we received a hard copy of the test results by courier.
I won’t go into the details of what the results were, but suffice it to say that some were eye-opening and a good reminder to wake up and take better care.
My health check review:
- The Aarogyam package is comprehensive and includes all the important tests to help determine current state of health. I liked that it included thyroid tests as this can be indicative of many underlying issues. As I mentioned earlier they have several valuable preventive health packages from which one can choose based on need. I chose Aarogyam as it was comprehensive and because my husband was due for a full health check anyway.
- The cost is affordable compared to what we get with our regular lab.
- The turn around time from the moment we confirmed our appointment was excellent and went very smoothly.
- Sample collection was done professionally.
- The follow up emails and SMS on my mobile did not necessitate any further communication from my side, since all important timelines were adhered to perfectly.
In short, I’d say my overall experience with Thyrocare was excellent and yes, I’d definitely use them again.
In fact, I recommended Thyrocare to a friend of mine who lives overseas and was wondering how to arrange a health check for her Mom in India. I told her that all she needed to do was get in touch with Thyrocare, decide the package and let them do the rest.
If you need a reliable service that you can depend on to monitor your health via preventive health check ups on a periodical basis, do try Thyrocare.
